About This Songwright
Based in Buffalo, Missouri, Jack Bryson Bowden is a quintessential Ozark storyteller whose musical roots stretch from the front porches of North Carolina to the historic stages of the American West. Growing up in a family where harmony was a constant companion on long road trips, Jack’s education in traditional country, folk, and gospel began long before he earned his music degree from SUNY Fredonia. Over the years, his “Banjo Jack” persona has graced a diverse array of venues, from the streets of San Francisco and the legendary Folk City in New York to the riverboats of the Cape Fear and the stages of Silver Dollar City.
With over 25 years in the Ozarks, Jack has become a master of the guitar, banjo, and harmonica, crafting a sound that is as barefoot and authentic as a walk through the woods. His songwriting is a clever mix of foot-tapping rhythms and thoughtful puzzles, often seasoned with a healthy dose of humor. Having recently completed an ambitious project of 52 song releases now available on all streaming platforms, Jack continues to spread musical joy throughout the region, whether performing solo or fronting his band, Kicking Jacksie.
